psst ! Sing your voice well! Georgia's workshop.

Psssst! Singers out there!! Georgias Workshop was great!!!
www.bodyandmind-at.nl/ GET TUNED UP! So very happy I went, because every time I see Georgia ..I’m reminded of what I’ve learned from her before, and: practice makes perfect. Hey.. I’m by no means perfect, but my body works, so far so good. And whatever works is perfect. Agreed? Yes... think we should all agree that our bodies should get a little more credit then we give them. Since I started Alexander Technique with Georgia, I’ve noticed that unfortunately, the mind tends to think it knows more then the body does. This needs to be corrected. Because I find my body might know a little more about itself then the mind thinks.. Especially singers should give the body more space ( and in Alexander Technique that means literally, creating more space within!!) , since their body is the only instrument they have. In this workshop „sing your voice well” we were invited to use our bodies, not just to willfully to some effect, project a story onto an audience but to actually „become the story” and sing it.
We were handed knowhow pertaining to breath and projecting a song, versus staying with it. Workeable!
What I noticed is that people singing become so wonderfull when they stop trying and start ...doing.
That is kind of the first step on the road to being the song instead of singing it. Nothing mystical about it.
Yet if this sounds strange to you.. then read on! And let me invite you to join Georgia Dias’ next workshop!

Georgia, the song and the person

Remember the words to the song Georgia?  A song of you....just an old sweet song, like moonlight through the pines... What great lyrics. So simple and so effective. And the melody.. say no more.. THAT is Georgia. The song.  And Georgia the person practicing Alexander technique, in my experience,  is a reflection of this song. Her instructions are pure, straight to the point, and simple. The only difference is.. the song doesn't make me laugh, but Georgia the person does ! She makes me laugh and shake myself up like i were a new fluffy feathery pillow. That's nice! But ofcourse my body is not a fluffy feathery pillow. Oh no? Why not? Why not explore the body some? Applying Alexander technique with the help of Georgia Dias, is to me a road leading back, from the mind to the body, a means to gain some real awareness.. and get into a different way of singing which to me is meaningfull ...Hah. Are you a singer and are you curious now? I would be!!! And am! For I am just starting on this journey now.Follow my writing for it is meant for you to read !  I'd like  to share my experiences toward what for lack of better words, I 'd call... voice-body awareness. My father used to say: you know you really understand something... if you can simplify and explain it. So bear with me.
